Submission: Under my bed .. - Aleks An.

My friend just gave me the title of the poem, "Under My Bed", and asked me to make something out of it. This is what I came up with.


Memories of you bring tears to my eyes,
And somehow my heart manages to sink.
Gazing into the darkness of the starless skies,
Time flies and I forget to blink.
A sudden rush of fear strikes,
And I fall.. lying on the cold harsh reality .. in the daylight.
There I was on my heaven.. but now I'm thinking about all the fights.
I wonder if we'll ever get back.. [we just might]
I shiver, snuggle and turn to my side.
Staring directly under my bed,
I saw the shirt you wore the night we went for a ride.
I remembered that beautiful, green and dark street..
How could I not, more than half the time we were on our feet..
Singing,
Kissing,
And dancing,
There we were perfectly romancing ..
Then there was your old house key.
I remember you almost proposing me.
I realize you didn't want me to know,
But I had already seen that beautiful ring you did not want to show.

There it all was.. underneath my bed.
My heaven.. where all my tears I shed.
Its been weeks, months and years..
Days have come and countless nights have gone by.
I had moved on and away from my fears.
And right under my bed lived everything that I bid goodbye.
As ironic as it is,
Such things are everywhere it seems.
So for those who believe you've moved on and far,
Beware .. because the worst is still close by.. no matter where you are.
